Art? Or terror?

An art student put forty black boxes all over Union Station with the word FEAR on them. His art shut the place down for five hours. Was this art? Was this stupid?

It might have been intended to be art, but overall I think it was stupid. If he was talking about Sept. 11, then he should have realized what the reaction would be. If he wasn't, then what was he talking about?

  1. Art comes in a mixed bag, there is the art that will last the ages since it is actually good and took talent to create, and then there is the art for the moment that is purely meant to get a quick reaction out of its viewer. That second grouping usually ends up being shock art since it is the easiest way to get an emotion out of someone, it may be complete crap (literally in some situations) but it's the idea, not the presentation. You can put as much explanation as you want in to that type of art, but it really doesn't matter how the artist viewed it and only how the audience views it. So in other words this guy is full of himself or full of it, he pretty well knew what kind of reaction he would get.

I saw a similar show here about the Banana. What a completely nuts world we live in.
