I’ve never heard of this term before, but the way it was used in the book I just read–fiction–, I believe it. It is a collection of all the thoughts ever thought all the knowledge ever known which is inscribed somewhere in the universe and readable upon occasion by those who are alive. What they are able to “read” can be information newly available or it can be old.
Here is a definition from the Skeptic’s Dictionary:
“The akashic record is an imagined spiritual realm, supposedly holding a record of all events, actions, thoughts and feelings that have ever occurred or will ever occur. Theosophists believe that the akasha is an “astral light” containing occult records which spiritual beings can perceive by their special “astral senses” and “astral bodies”. Clairvoyance, spiritual insight, prophecy and many other untestable metaphysical and religious notions are made possible by tapping into the akasha.”
While this site has many of the same words as the above definition, it also has others:
“Some indicate the akashic records are similar to a Cosmic or collective consciousness. The records have been referred to by different names including the Cosmic Mind, the Universal Mind, the collective unconscious, or the collective subconscious.”
and
“Certain persons in subconscious states do read the akashic records. An explanation for this phenomena is that the akashic records are the macrocosm of the individual subconscious mind. Both function similarly, they possess thoughts which are never forgotten. The collective subconscious gathers all thoughts from each subconscious mind which can be read by other subconscious minds.”
I have always believed in something like this, but not in these words or this way. However, I have often thought something I didn’t have any way of knowing.
Also, why did iron and bronze and other abilities turn up “independently” at sites all over the world at the same time? It could have been transferred. I think that there was a lot more commerce than modern men believe. But if it wasn’t, how did it happen?
Also, many years ago, I read an experiment where mice in the US were run through a maze. They ran it in the “expected” time for that maze. But then scientists in Australia ran other mice through the exact same maze and the maze ran it in the time a mouse experienced with that maze would have run it. How did that happen?
I don’t believe in reincarnation. I do believe in telepathy, so it is possible that is all it is, but I have often thought there is a “force” (for lack of a better word and it is a horrible choice) which holds knowledge in it. Sometimes those who want to find out something are able to “intuitively” figure it out. Maybe they are just reading the thought waves still spanning the planet.
