Just Wondering

The denomination I grew up in has never celebrated Christmas much. They say it’s not about Jesus’ birth. I have been to congregations that put up some decorations. But never any church that celebrated it wholeheartedly.

This year my church has decorations up all over. A Christmas serviceman’s tree. A tree of poinsettas. Wreaths. Garlands. (No nativity scene, though.) And we’re talking about the birth of Christ for the whole month.

I wonder, is this because the culture is now saying we can’t talk about Jesus at Christmas? (Like in the schools or the Nativity scenes on public property.)

Does my church now think they should because they’re being told by others not to?

Just a thought.
