Today we read the first chapter of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland in class. It took about 20 minutes. The students listened fairly well, though DR corrected me if I didn’t read every word as written.
Then we read and talked about four Aesop Fables that have rabbits in them.
Then we all illustrated a single Aesop story. There were four possibilities.
It went well. It wasn’t as fun as I hoped but neither was it as rowdy as I feared. I like the approach I took. And some chapters will be more fun than others. (For instance, the mouse swimming in her tears and the political caucuas are interesting, but not as good as the Mock Turtle and the Gryphon.)
I was surprised that one of my 7 year olds knew when the Civil War was. (That was in the US when the book was being written.)
