Is it right for me?
I don’t know. I wasn’t expecting to need it. My doctor gave me the patch- which left marks for weeks- and I went to a new patch. It itches, but not as much.
So I thought I would look on the internet. (Not the omniscience I need, but still a good source.)
I see Mayo Clinic and I read, among many other things, “Women on hormone replacement therapy should take the lowest effective dose for the shortest amount of time needed to treat symptoms.”
They said it’s good for hot flashes. Mine haven’t been too bad.
They said it’s good for osteoporosis. I don’t have that. My bones are in good shape and I do weight bearing exercises.
They said it’s good for vaginal discomfort. I don’t know if I have that.
One plus is that they said if you’re younger it seems to stave off heart attacks that it brings on when older. (What’s up with that?)
The negatives are it ups the risk of strokes and gives a lot of false positives on mammograms. (It also may increase your incidence of breast cancer.)
There are lots of things to think about.
I’d be leaning toward not doing it except that I think God told me to put the patch on today. Not 100% sure that’s who/what it was. But I think so.
