Books

I’ve finished reading all of Susan Wittig Albert’s China Bayles series, except for the newest book. They’re interesting. I think the best are Love Lies Bleeding (terrible ending) and Chile Death (good ending, finishes up Love Lies Bleeding).

I also began reading Susan Wittig Albert’s Beatrix Potter series. It is MUCH better than the China Bayles series, though I like China and McQuaid and Ruby is fun. And, so far at least, there’s no major changes in the characters as you go along.

Did I mention that Blackie talks about his wife in one book? They’re still married. In the next I read he’s dating Sheila.

Also in Love Lies Bleeding, I think, Leatha says it is too bad that China never met Aunt Tullie. But in a later book, China not only has met Aunt Tullie, but Aunt Tullie’s not dead. (Old murders catch the attention, don’t they?)

Anyway, I really like the Beatrix Potter books.

I’ve learned a new word- heaf. It means “will stay at home, won’t wander away.” It’s an archaic term, to be sure. But I like it. I’m a heaf kinda gal. My hubby would like to get out more.

I thought I had learned another new word, and I liked it, but now I can’t remember what it was.

  1. I love Beatrix Potter. Mei and are currently reading her animal stories for h.s. Are the books really that good? Maybe I will have to check them out from the library.
