An Orphan

Today I learned that my great-great grandmother, Katherine Schroeder Easton, who my mother knew, died when she was greater than 100. She was the sole survivor of her village after a war in Germany. She was about seven at the time of the war. So, I think, having looked into it, that she was orphaned in the Seven Week’s War in 1866. The Prussians and their allies fought the Austrians and their allies over the area of what is now Germany and Austria.
