Live Science has the Top 10 Natural Disasters in the US, ranked according to death tolls. I have lived through three of them.

I remember number 6. I was living in West Texas. It was very hot. People were giving away fans and a/c units. The public service announcements told people not to mow their lawns, not to go outside if they didn’t have to, not to get overheated.

No one I personally know died in any of these disasters. But it makes you think.
